
Food self-sufficiency in Burkina Faso: Captain TRAORE hands over agricultural equipment to boost production
The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE proceeded, this Monday, May 6, 2024, to the delivery of agropastoral equipment and inputs to Burkinabè producers.
This equipment is made up of tractors, tillers, motor pumps, tons of inputs, phytosanitary and veterinary products and motorcycles for the benefit of agents.
At a cost of more than seventy-eight billion FCFA (78,297,426,435 FCFA), the acquisition of this agropastoral equipment and inputs reflects the Transitional Government’s desire to support producers as part of the Offensive. agropastoral and fisheries 2023-2025 and the Presidential Initiative for Agricultural Production 2023-2024.
For the Minister of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources, Commander Ismaël SOMBIE, this equipment and inputs will “enable production to be increased substantially and allow food self-sufficiency to be achieved.”
The Head of State therefore invited young people to get to work and organize themselves into cooperatives in order to benefit from government support.
The Livestock Resilience and Competitiveness Project (PRECEL) contributed to this important government operation through 120 motorcycles and 206 tonnes of fodder seeds.
