
Livestock Development in Burkina Faso: let’s go for the second Government-World Bank support mission for the implementation of PRECEL
The Livestock Resilience and Competitiveness Project (PRECEL) is organizing from September 3 to 6, 2024 in Ouagadougou, the second joint government-World Bank support mission for the implementation of the Project.
During this mission, the participants will review the progress made in the implementation of the project with particular emphasis on the progress of the indicators as well as the implementation of the recommendations resulting from the last joint mission, fiduciary management in particular. procurement, financial management, arrangements made to comply with environmental and social safeguard measures and formulate recommendations for the effective and efficient implementation of project activities.
The PRECEL Coordinator, Dr Soumaila BITIBALE, at the start of his remarks thanked the authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources, the World Bank, the project implementation partners for their support during these seven (07) of implementation of PRECEL and which “made it possible to achieve the results which will be presented”.
The Representative of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal and Fishery Resources, Mr. Saidou SANA, for his part congratulated the PRECEL team for the work accomplished and recalled some of the project’s achievements during the seven (07) months implementation of the project.
As part of these achievements, it appears that PRECEL acquired and made available to producers 206 tonnes of improved seeds, 120 motorcycles for the benefit of field agents to support the implementation of project activities as well as the national system of advisory support in breeding, acquisition of 10,000 doses of vaccine for the benefit of the general directorate of veterinary services, training of breeders and supervisory agents on various themes, carrying out its study for the development of the reference situation of its indicators, the development of several strategic and orientation documents, the holding of its national orientation bodies, etc.
These achievements made it possible to have a physical execution rate of PTBA 2024 activities of 46.5% as of August 31, 2024 and mobilized three thousand three hundred and three (3,303) people including two thousand eight hundred -two (2,802) men or 84.83% and five hundred and one (501) women or 15.17%, left between the Representative of the Secretary General.
However, like the Representative of the Secretary General, the head of the World Bank mission, Mr. Erick Herman ABIASSI, invited the PRECEL team to redouble their efforts in order to raise the rate by the end of the year 2024. To do this, he gave guidelines that could contribute to the effective implementation of PRECEL.
During the implementation of PRECEL, two Government-World Bank support missions are planned per year.
